This course has been tailored to suit the needs of newcomers to the nail technology industry and assumes no previous relevant knowledge. It is designed to provide beginner with all of the skills and knowledge that will need in order to begin work as a Nail Technician.
This course should be seen as the first step on the ladder for newly qualified technicians - lots of practice will be necessary to perfect the techniques you have learned, so please persevere and don't forget that you can always pop in for a refresher day if you need it.

Diploma: NTA Foundation Diploma in Nail Technology
Day 1
Safety & hygiene, client records, client consultation, contra indications to treatment, anatomy, physiology and nail disorders, preparation of materials and the client. Nail preparation, tipping and blending techniques, resins and adhesives, product chemistry.
Different types of nail, dealing with difficult nail shapes, introduction to liquid and powder acrylics. Working with liquid and powder systems, the 3 zones, the free edge, perfect smile lines, the apex and the eponychium line, brush care, abrasives finishing and polishing.
Day 2
Introduction to UV Gel systems, tri-phase and uni-phase gels, using a UV lamp safely, introduction to liquid and powder acrylics. Working with liquid and powder systems, the 3 zones, the free edge, perfect smile lines, the apex and the eponychium line, brush care, abrasives finishing and polishing.
Day 3
Continuation of practical application skills, infilling and rebalancing, dealing with product breakdown and problems. Using sculpting forms.
Day 4
Manicure and pedicure routines, contraindications, massage, nail treatments, spa services, client aftercare.
Day 5
Nail Art.
Freehand nail art techniques. How to use decals, bindi's, stripping tape, gems etc to create original and attractive nails.
Day 6 - Assessment - Arranged individually for each student after 6 weeks of practice
You will complete a short test paper in the morning followed by a practical assessment in the afternoon.
